Here are a few things that you should keep in mind when buying car insurance online
Type of policyIt is important to understand the type of car insurance policy you require. For a wholesome cover that provides maximum benefits, comprehensive or all risk car insurance works best. Although, If you have a limited budget or your car history/specification does not allow you to go for comprehensive or an all risk cover then you may opt for Third-party car insurance.
Cashless assistanceWhen buying a new car insurance policy, lookout for IDV (insured declared value) of the car. It is the maximum sum insured fixed by the insurer which is provided on theft or total loss of the insured vehicle. Basically, IDV is the current market value of the car. Try and choose an IDV that matches the market value of your car so that the claim is higher.
Claim settlement ratio of the insurance providerThe Claim Settlement Ratio (CSR) indicates the percentage of claims that an insurance company settles in a financial year. The higher the CSR, the better the company in terms of claims settlement. That’s why it is recommended to compare CSR and choose an insurance provider that has a high CSR.
Add-onsChoosing the most beneficial add-ons will make your policy more useful, boost the claim payouts, and reduce your out-of-pocket expenses. Keep in mind that each add-on comes with an additional cost.
Premium vs. coverage offeredAlways compare the best car insurance plans based on their premium and coverage offered. A plan that offers the most comprehensive scope of coverage and that too at the lowest premium would be the most beneficial.

Get the right coverage
Third-party insurance may prove to be affordable than all risk car insurance. When opting for either one, you can choose fewer add-ons. By limiting your add-ons, you can get comparatively affordable car insurance.
No-claims discount
An unconventional way to get a lower premium is by being a good driver with little to no claim history on your policy. Policyholders with little or no claim history are awarded a No-Claims discount which lowers their policy premium significantly.
Bundle insurance
A smart way to get a discounted rate on your insurance is by buying more than one policy. You can club health, travel, and car insurance together from the same provider to get an overall discount on the premium.
Higher deductible
Insurance deductibles are the amount you decide to pay out of your own pocket in case of a claim. By opting for a higher deductible, you can lower the premium. However, this affords you little protection in case of a claim, and you end up paying more in an emergency.
